| Lives for gear | Arabella Producer Series ( BeesNeez )
There is a thread about the Studio Series, but it appears that the Pro is quite a bit different. In search for specifics on this mic, nothing came up. I know it's relatively new, but I'm starting this thread in anxious anticipation for the Arabella Pro that's on its way to me. I ordered it a bit ago, and have realized there were quite a few changes (upgrades) in the mic package that I was unaware of before ordering, and didn't find out until Ben told me over the phone. I just wanted to hear from some users (or people in the know), what this mic is like (general user experience, prefered uses, etc...) The version shipping to me comes with: K7 (B.N.'s new K47 rendition), waterproof flight case, steel tube, 2461 Cinemag, shockmount, woodbox, and power supply/cable. I'm hoping to fall in love.......... how about you???? |

Can't wait to find out either! I've been wanting to try out some of Ben's mics but this one definitely shouldn't overlap with my existing cabinet.

I was recording a brass section for an album I am recording. A Gospel/Blues project. I had Trumpet, Bone and Sax playing together in one room into individual mics. I had a Peluso ribbon mic on the trumpet, a U67 on sax and an Arabella on the bone. The Arabella was going through a Buzz Audio channel strip, which is a lovely strip BTW. I loved the mid definition of the Arabella. Nice and warm, yet detailed without any hard tops. It lacked a little low end for my liking, but sounded very nice. I then did a quick shot out between the Peluso ribbon, Arabella & U67 on baritone and tenor sax. The U67 was in a class all it's own and sounded huge. Probably helped by the fact that it was going through an Aurora Audio GTQ2 MKIII. HUGE. The Peluso Ribbon also sounded nice and full and I loved the roll off on the tops that you get with the ribbons. Note that I have not liked the Peluso condensers that I have tried to date,The Arabella had a nice detail to the mids but was the smallest sounding and lacked a little low end. Having said this, I would have been happy with any of these mics for this project. All in all a very nice mic for the money. Certainly a hell of a lot cheaper than my U67.

The 2 main differences sonically between the Producer and Studio Series Arabella's is 1/ the bottom end response and 2/ the size of the sonic footprint. You are definitely right in saying that the Studio series arabella has a great midrange and top end but is a little smaller in the low mids and bottom end. This is due primarily to the phisical size of the head grill and the K47c Capsule. THe smaller head girll surface area in the Studio series Arabella resricts the bottom end somewhat and the low mids in the K47c are down 1db from the K7. The Producer series Arabella is a HUGE sounding microphone that has an amazingly detailed and full sounding lowmid and bottom end whilst retaining the Midrange clarity and rounded tops of the GT. Hope this helps. Cheers

I really look forward to that mic!!!! There's something exciting about it....... maybe the genealogy and the "made from the ground up" approach taken in the manufacturing process of the Producers Series.... as well as the "cool" (original) visual vibe...... I can't help but be really excited. Another great aspect that appeals to me is the companies recent capsule progress, using a delineation from the past and I'm sure some of their (his) own skills and tastes. (Not to mention the recent Klaus review of the K7) Will report on the sonics when the mic arrives.

I used to have one of the old original Arabella's which I loved. I sold it to buy the Tribute 1 (U47 clone). I also have a Mahalia (U67) and a Jade along with a pair of Lulu Fets. Love Ben's mics. To be honest I reckon the Producer series Arabella is 90% of the sound of the T1 which shows just how good it is. Highly recommended.

The feedback on the Arabella Studio and the Producer series has been spot on positive. I will also interested in one sometime in the not too distant future(got to buy one more comp first) BTW Anguswoodhead, I don't know which posts I listened to your samples, but I thought they were outstanding. thumbsupthumbsup

The package is great, and I snapped a few pics. It comes with a really nice (looks like a Pelican) waterproof case. Waiting for an upcoming session to try it out.

From your response I gather that the Producer series Arabella is worth me checking out sometime. Do you have a Producer series Arablella in Brisvegas? Cheers, Scott.

The arabella is point-to-point... Also is point-to-point the mahalia???? The great price of mahalia is a difference in the work or the components vs the arabella??? |

I actually have Angus' Old Arabella. It's a nice sounding mic. No reason to believe the others wouldn't be as well. Also Ben/Angus I am interested in what the differences in the original and the other two were out of curiosity. |

I did a deal with Ben where I traded some stuff and ended up with an Arabella to sell. It will be brand new fresh from the BeesNeez factory. Probably about 2 weeks away. I have a Tribute 1, Mahalia, Jade and 2 x Lulu Fets so have plenty of great BeesNeez mic options in my locker. Plus I need the cash so am selling the Arabella instead of keeping her. I have her big brother the T1 anyway so that colour is really covered.

With the sad thing that happened in Nashville. I hope all high dollar mics will start including waterproof cases instead of that $5 cheap chinese stuff that does no good when it floods. Good move on Bees Neez! Just to help, get a mic bag for that mic (crown royal). Foam turns into dust as it ages. Foam will snow all over that pretty capsule over time.
