There is a thread else where on this. Only 40 of these were made. API dropped them because they were too hard to make or something.

Kudos to the seller for the very clear photos.


The Comp/Limit, the Gate and the De-Esser are all separate sections, each with it's own in/out switch.

And it's got an LED meter instead of the incandescent VU meter.

Super-high knob to faceplate ratio! Yeeha!

It's a 525B.

Paul did only make something like 40 of them.

If I remember correctly, even the comp/lim section is nothing like a 525 or 525C.

It probably sounds fine, but I would think that if API stopped making them because they were too difficult to manufacture, then they are probably a bit of a nightmare to fix as well.

My 2 cents.

we ordered 4 of these years ago...got the first pair right away...second pair never came
they said it was just too much work to build

I remember seeing an ad for these in Mix or Sound On Sound or something ages ago. I always thought they seemed intriguing, but have never seen one aside from the ad.
