Langevin Pultec EQP-1A vs upcoming Mini Massive -

Heya all

What have been peoples experiences with the Langevin Pultec EQP-1A?

I've used the original tube Pultecs, and I know the Langevin's are NOT the same... but.... how are they? How nice is the top and bottom for some gentle overall sculpting + boosting?

and - I'm eager to try out the Mini Massive when it (hopefully) arrives soon.... any thoughts as to how they will sound different or maybe similar? For two channels, it'll be roughly the same, approx......

thanx

I like the Langevin EQ's quite a bit... as for the "Mini-Massive"... I've been seeing it at shows and hearing rumors for like 2 years now... I ain't holding my breath.

the Langevin is an amazing unit...really can give something (boost or cut) to vox and is just as good in a stereo pair on the 2 buss. Not really a Pultec at all as far as sound...as far as the new Mini Massive..no idea..what to expect yet from that....

Useful but not amazing.

No where in the same hemisphere.

I actually liked it better for some mid instruments.

I would choose the Massive Passive for this though.

Well...the mini Massive took the 2 weak points from the Massive Passive itself and made it into a solid state EQ?

The Massive Passive sound is really more in the transformers than in the tubes(as well as most Manley gear).

Sometimes the sound is just right.

At other times its just not enough and you want more.

That's part of the reason you have such varied opinions on Manley gear.

My guess is the Mini Massive will be somewhere in between.

I am also thinking about these two for the mixbus:

A stereo pair of EPQ 1A's or the Mini Massive ...

OR the Clariphonic!

But it would be killer if the unit(s) would also be nice for subgroups (guitars, drums)..

Any recommendation?
