Recommend Preamp/EQ please -and drum recording advice

The two best pres in my project studio are my Great River ME-1 and Avalon 737. The only other pres I have are the four in my Fireface, plus a Bellari stereo pre and some assorted other mid-low end pres. I'd like to have a high quality stereo chain so I'm thinking of selling the Avalon and getting a second GR. The only problem is that I lose the EQ and the compressor in the Avalon. The Avalon's Compressor has been pretty useless for me, plus I have a Distressor and a pair of LA-4s. But I do use the EQ sparingly (vox/acoustic guitar, etc) I'd like to still have some EQ on the way in. If I were to get rid of the Avalon, what do you guys recommend?

Also, I'll soon be tracking drums in my place for the first time. With my gear list, what mic/pre/compressor combos would you start with on a drum kit?
