New Audiotechnica kik mic?.. anyone tried it yet?

Howdy slutz...

Whilst never been much of an AT afficiendo, they seem to have come up with a strange mic that has more than piqued my interest. The new At mic AT2500 is a dual capsule kik mic with both a condensor and a dynamic capsule side by side inthe one head. They are prefectly phase aligned and looks like it could be a new toy to try and cpature thaty god like kik tone we all secretly lust for.

check it out... im hopefully gona get one to tinker with this week and will post my results soon.

If anyone has some expereince with this puppy please fess up and share as im anxious to know what they are like?

PEACE
Wiggy

An AT rep lent me one for a weekend. We were giving a recording clinic at the store I was working at. I recorded some drums using minimal set-ups. The 2500 sounded great inside and outside my Gretsch 20" bass drum. Both capsules sounded quite nice and blended well. It comes with a nice long Y-cable that I was able to get to my snake without attaching another cable. I'd like to get one, but it's low on the priority list.

There's a review of it in the current Mix. Snare was one of the things they tried it on, with favorable results. Of course, everything is always great in reviews!

Was there a full page ad on the new mic three pages later in mix..
Sound on Sound used to be the best as there international version has no ads anyway.. Over the last few years there has been more home gear and more this is great type of reviews..
The only way is to try things...
Or trust some people you know online like here..
As there seems to be a growing amount of new manfactures that logon as other people and post glowing reviews. Always with post #1

One of my friends is a rep for AT in the NY Metro area. I called him a few days ago to see if they had a sample in the office that I could borrow for a week or three. He said it's actually the only new AT mic they don't have a sample for. Bummer. Wiggy, let me know how it is on guitar amps.

All you need to make a record is a mic, some tape and maybe some bad reverb...
