Acoustic fingerstyle or strumming Pre!

I did a test the other night with a Great River preamp and the new V-78 tube preamp. I used a new Martin HD20V acoustic with a Schoeps CMC6/MK4 Mic
I found the tube preamp sounded better with the fingerstyle sound and the Great
River sounded best for strumming! I would assume one pre would work for either style of playing but it didnt there was a noticible difference. Has anyone else ever
looked at different pres for fingerstyle or strumming? I have seen people choose different mics for each style. For just solo acoustic guitar (no vocals) I like using a Soundelux 251. I tried 5 different vocalists and one preamp sounded best on someone then the other pre sounded best on someone else. In my opinion these are two preamps to have to cover everything.

I recently discovered that the Manley Dual Mono tube pre sounds superb on finger-style acoustics, and amazing on vocals as well. The Wunder PEQ-1 is stellar for strumming.

You also like a tube pre for fingerstyle. Is the PEQ-1 solid state?
I wonder if guys like Chuck Ainley or Michael Wagner view one pre for fingerstyle or strumming?

Buzz MA2.2. I have found this preamp to convey the nuances of acoustic guitar in a way that is almost hyper-real. It is very fast so all the wonderful transients sounds get picked up. The Buzz adds a touch of character that flatters the sound of a picked or strummed acoustic guitar. Love it.
