Neve consoles info/history?

Hello!

Just wonder if anyone knows about a good site (or other source) that explains the history of Neve desks, describes the difference between the different models (8028, 8068, etc)?

Would be an intresting read...
...

Cheers,

/R

Hi

Go to the Neve section of my web site. You'll find a list of all the console types and some useful tales in the stories page.

Hi

But take with a big pinch of salt....

EG

8028

32-16 LARGE MUSIC CONSOLE WITH 1081 CHANNEL AMPLIFIERS, ALSO AVAILABLE WITH 1073/1074 CHANNEL AMPLIFIERS, 1272/1271 LINE AMPLIFIERS, AND SOMETIMES IN THE PENTHOUSE 2254 COMP/LIMITERS BUSSING MODULES WERE EITHER 1903/B 1904/A AND MODULAR MONITOR SECTION FITTED 1915 SERIES MODULES

An 8028 is a 24 channel 16 bus console fitted with 8.75" channel amps (1073/1084) rather than the 12" modules (1064/1081) referred to above.

It has 1903 bus assign modules, 1906 Aux assign modules, and 1272 bus amps.
Also provision for 4 x 2254 Lim Comps.

The Monitor section was not modular, it used three large 8 track monitor matrix panels.

If it had 32 channels and 12 " modules it's either an 8038 or 48, or one of countless custom music consoles starting with A599 Decca Paris.

That description is several different custom consoles lumped together. 70% of Neve's production was custom and the 80** code system doesn't really apply.

I ought to know... I was there Oct '71 to Dec '85!
