That's pretty funny.

The EQs were to interface to racks using a new standard and the modules would be both backward and forward compatible. I'll know more after AES.

Best,

/Dave

Any hints as to what company might be behind this new rack? API?

When you say 'backward compatible', I assume you mean they will fit and work in a normal 500 series rack/slot?

AnaMod AMEQP

I am guessing the advanced rack features have something to do with the recall possibilities of the AMEQP. Hoping to see this connection feature apear on the workhorse in the future maybe....

CLASP

Sorry if this has been covered but I was wondering: Does CLASP allow you to use tape as an hardware insert during mixing or is it mainly designed for recording?

Both. But obviously it's selling point is recording.

Though I do understand what you're saying regardless.

And I wasn't talking about 'print' through, I was talking about bleed, as in, adjacent track bleed. Meaning, you have to practice the same common sense when choosing what tracks lay adjacent to each other as you would with any tape machine, as it is a tape machine being synced. Don't put a snare track next to a whisper vocal track, etc.

This was most noticable with smpte tracks which was normally put on trk 24 (edge track) with trk 23 being used for distorted gtr or left blank if possible. A heavy transient track next to a smpte track can cause dropouts, depending on the machine. Of course with CLASP, there would be no need for smpte, but adjacent track bleed can still be an issue.
Actually, yellow DOG Studios has a CLASP unit in our overdub/edit suite as well as in the main studio. This lets the engineer overdub to tape (1/4" Otari MTR-10) and do tape laybacks and not tie up the big room for those purposes.

Does anyone use CLASP while tracking a drummer when virtual instruments are running in the background in real time? Are there any issues to contend with?
