Vocalbooth.com rooms...anyone use one with drums?

Yea I know it goes against some informal "rules" or standards we all practice, but I'm trying to see if anyone has used one of their diamond or gold series rooms on drums before. I use my hd2 rig to do a lot of on site recording but when i'm at home tracking I never am able to track drums due to their loud volume and my closed living quarters. Thought it would also be nice having a little room to mix in too since my "normal" mix room is in Chicago. So anywho.....anyone use one on drums before?

I wouldn't recommend them for drums. I can't even use mine for vocals with mics in Omni (although it works very well for vocals and acoustic guitars if you have the mics in Cardiod). For drums you need the space to capture everything as one instrument and not separate pieces. Otherwise use DFHS and/or Superior C&V with a V Drum setup and you'll be much happier.

I wouldn't recommend them for drums. They're a bit flexible. There's one in the room that I do some jingle work in sometimes, and we typically end up tracking vox out in the mix room instead. I find the best sounding drums aren't bashed to shit and actually played quietly with some dynamics. Not always easy to pull off in an apartment, though. Have you thought about VDrums or something of that ilk?

Thank you guys for your input. I was hoping if I close mic'd everything it might be decent, but I am know thinking its not such a good idea. I would definately prefer "space" but the option is not there so I'm trying to think of the next best thing. I don't like Vdrums nor anything triggered. I do love dynamics in playing and think they have been missing a long time in popular music. No change in dynamics = boring, redundant. Again thanks for the advice, I'll keep schemeing up ideas.

One more "bit" of info... we just got one and it was the Nightmare From Hell to put together. The instructions are an absolute joke. No refrences on any of the pieces and it totally skips over where half the stuff goes or in what order. In all my days of getting "stuff" and putting it together this was, without a doubt, the most frustrating!!

I just bought a used 8x8" and found it suprisingly easy to put together. The seller gave me a pretty decent run-down on the parts and how to do it. It's quite awesome. It allows me to make loud noise and not bug my neighbors. The guy I bought it from had two more. He loves it for drums. He said it recorded better than his room which had high celings and he commented that punching in was a breeze. My sense so far is that it could work well for drums if the drummer has a good touch. I've got V-Drums and would choose real kit in the booth any day.
