| Allen and Heath ZED R16
So, I have various pres - Millennia, API, Daking, a (virtually unused) Lavry...
I go through the process of setting up a chain (for instance, M149 - Daking - Lavry converter - DAW) sounds great - but the mic inputs/internal conversion on the ZED R16 sounds every bit as good. I don't want to believe this because over the years I've spent as much on a single pre or converter as I did on the R16 (meant purely as an easy interface for monitors/headphones and the odd session that needs a quick setup)
The format/look of this desk would have some people on here very sniffy (what, no 100mm faders?!) but this is a serious, solid piece of gear with great pres, good conversion and excellent, usable EQ and it's so intuitive to use. (the main, kind of hidden 17/18 digital return channels are genius for mixing everything going through the desk)
Ok, I won't be selling the other pres (I love my Daking for guitars) but can I be ar**d to mess around setting up various chains when a single line into the A+H works so well? Have to admit, I'm of the school that believes the mic is the single most important part of the chain anyway.
No, I don't work for A+H, no I'm not looking for sponsorship, yes I'll take some if offered...
