Thread Starter | Uptown automation 990 series
Ok so we have a 990 uptown automation system at uor studio, and the computer's hard drive died after a few years of running solidly. we replaced the hard drive, installed win 98, installed uptown software , and it opens just fine, and does fader tests and panel tests just fine, but won't recognize the sync card, so we have no time code to sync pt and the automation system. Does anyone have the drivers for this particular card? I have already contacted API about this but have not had a response yet. they were very helpful giving us the user manual and install manual, but no response as to the drivers yet. any leads anyone??

API really dropped the ball on our system 990. We sent down the whole computer to them, bought another sync card, then got a new computer! Spent HOURS on the phone with them to no avail. An old friend came and reset the "pq" or "qr" settings on the pci cards and it "kind started to work again..." I'm really disappointed with their service division.

If it's not recognizing the sync card then the IRQ preference is set wrong. I think the default setting is 3 but at our studio when we went through this same experience, we realized that the jumpers on our sync card were set for IRQ 5. See attached for a scan of the sync card manual... |

Hi again. I work with Cisko, and we're having some 990 issues again. We believe we had a bad PSU in our automation computer, which could have been responsible for the lives of several hard drives, and we're worried it might have affected one of the two cards required to run our Uptown 990 system. The card in question is the Music Quest MQX-32M, which is the MIDI/SYNC card. The card will not be recognized using ANY Port Address/IRQ settings; the card will simply not interface with the computer. We've been wrestling this beast for weeks now, and we're at the point of dredging the Internet in search of a replacement. Could anyone help us with any information concerning Uptown 990 compatible replacements for the MQX-32M card? Perhaps a contact of someone who specializes in this field. Thanks everyone |

Hi, I'm having the same problem with my 990 and the smpte card. My Uptown initialization screen shows midi irq=5 even though the dip switches are set for irq=2/9. Did you ever resolve your problem? Thanks, Gregg
