Try Before I Buy......

I am looking to set up a relationship with a pro-audio dealer in NYC. So that I can try out some gear to use for a Major Label release. I am tracking it now an will be mixing at the end of the month.
I do not like or use the chain stores (Sam Ash, etc.)
Who do you guys deal with in the NYC area?
I may just end up renting it all but it would be nice if there was a dealer that was willing to bring over some pieces and let you use them for a week or so so you can see if it is something that you want to buy.
Any thoughts?

Thanks -

I think this is only reasonable, you should sign a reciept, I do it quite often here in the UK with several dealers...

I have a Viper and an AEA R84 Ribbon Mic on loan now from Terry Finn at
Affinity Audio UK

07966 131998 or
E-mail: terry@affinityaudio.com

And Funky Junk UK also lend me stuff,

Heres a photo of Terry dropping off the Viper & AEA R84 Ribbon Mic at The Library a few days ago. It and the Viper are use right now on a film soundrtrack recording a chum of mine is doing today & tomorow.

If you don't come up with anything closer, there's at least three places in Boston who will do it if they get the right vibe from you.

Good question =/ I've found the guys at Sam Ash on 48 aren't too bad and they've got some great stuff there (read manley, millenia, etc. etc.) but I agree I always leave those stores feeling like I just took a shower in oil.
