Any suggestions?

Thanks

That's funny. I was just checking out your gear list last week and noticed you had 6 LA3a's.

That's more than I would ever use.

I would look into a pair of Neve 2254's.

Good Luck.

Those are some great looking rooms!

How about some kind of vari-mu compression (Manley, EAR, Pendulum). I would also second the Neve compression, and I imagine a Daking FET II or ADR Compex would also be quite different to what you've already got, but I'm not familiar with the Spectrasonic or Roger Mayer. Alternatively, how about SSL G-Series, Smart C1/C2 or something similar (although obviously you're not stuck for compressors with some VCA character).

I like this idea.

Probably one of my all time favorite comps.

A 33609JD would be another great add on.

SSL buss type comp.

Also no LA2A's?

I also saw there aren't many EQ choices either.

Maybe grab a couple of those.

They were deals over the years I just couldn't pass up. I really didn't mean it to happen!

LA2A would be great for what I do here.
I'm just not a big EQ guy!

Thanks

Really are beautiful rooms......................I come with a question - no advice, sorry,..........but:

I see you have a Shadow Hills Gamma 8. As one of the legions who is patiently (?) waiting for a couple channels on Mono Gamma I am curious about your comments on the sound(s) of these. I realize the Gamma 8 is not identical but would still like to hear your thoughts when you have a chance as very few people have been able to comment from actual experience yet.

Thanks,
Stephen

Its funny over the years i've moved away from being "compressor guy" to "EQ and effects guy".

Most of the reason people go nuts over comps these days is because they use them as EQ's.

Why not save the range and still keep the processing?

I was also thinking as a freelance engineer if i were to mix something in your place what i would look for.

I hate that feeling when i am in a new studio an the thought comes to mind in a middle of a mix "i wish they had an "X" that i could use for this track or "if i were in my place it be so easy just to patch in Y".

Right now I am the engineer 99% of the time. Most people that come here come for tracking in my live room. If the time comes when that percentage changes, my rack will reflect those needs.

I do many sessions where I don't even patch a compressor in. But they're nice to have around!

Back to the topic. The LA3's are going to be sold this week.
Any body use a Pendulum 6386?
