Best mic 4 Female Reggae MC/Reggae singjay ?

Hi,
I'm new to the board.
Just about to purchase a pro mic for an album project.
I'm working closely with two mcs. One is a female with a harsh, aggresive, almost Lady Saw style ragga chatting style. Whilst the other is a guy who sounds a bit like Sizzla/Buju, and alternates between toasting and singing aggressively.

Problem is I need a mic that can sound great for both..due to cash constraints.

I've been recommended a U87 or Soundelux...

I'll be recording via, either a distressor or an Avalon 737...

Can I get some advice from the board asap ?

a distressor is a compressor and a 737 is a mic pre/comp/eq (channel strip) What sort of mic pre will you use if you choose the distressor. U87 is a versatile mic. If it's in your budget, then use it.

Which Mic pre would you suggest ?
And how would the chain work best, as I already have the distressor and Avalon..
Thus far, for the demos, I've only been running an SM58 into the Avalon(As the pre)..
Had been told the U87 is a little harsh on the mids or too bright...
Cheers for the response
