Just got my Pearlman TM1 with NOS EF14 tube - it sounds awesome!! Only tried it quickly so far on vocs and acoustic guitar, and it sounds great. Definitely worth the bucks at the price he's charging.

Got mine today. He added a hi end attenuation switch to the design. He also redesigned the cinemag transformer to sound more like the Neumann. I'll see how it sounds......

We've been tracking a male R&B singer with our Pearlman for the past few weeks. This mic is mental sounding! So beautiful.

Shit this is James 'LA' Lugo, Stewart never signed out!

Whew! Yes, very nice indeed. Just huge and weighty. The dulling option is very key IMO, it was a little on the bright side before (but still nice to have the option). Just sounds done, I don't want to put any reverb on it.

i emailed Dave today to put myself in line to buy one. i am a teaching assistant so i make hardly any money. i've managed t5o save up $1500 so i think that this is probably the best way i could go.
in my opinion you just can't beat hand done product.
thank you again everyone!

Why is Dave changing the transformer? Did he also change the tubes too?

wow, from the clips I have heard..the mic sounds great. come on for 1500 you can't go wrong. I think it has enough of that "sound". Sure maybe it's not 100% but hell..it sounds great. I think I am going to get in line.

THIS mic is 100% TEH right mic for the right need... that' what a 100% mic is, becuase no matter what mic you name, there will be an opinion here that says there is something better or better used for (insert need here).

Man, the Pearlman is not a great mic for the money, it is a great mic!

Name THE best mic in history and there is no way you will get consensus, sorry, but I felt I had to add that in context to Pearlman, which I consider to be in the league of the best of the best... at least for my vocals and a ton of other needs I've yet to discover.

Thanks Dave for contributing to our music!

I think I might be getting a TM-1, it did well in that test, and it certainly is highly recommended.

This is the same price I paid in December for my TM1. Dave is a "stand-up" guy, and you guys that have ordered will not be dissappointed, I promise -It's a very nice mic.

My Pearlman arrived today. Very nice indeed. An excellent companion to my Charteroak SA538B. Only had time to play with it for a couple of minutes but a quick comparison yielded:

Charteroak: clean, crisp, modern, sweetly bright

Pearlman: velvety, chocolate, warm yet present and up front.

So does the Charteroak have that C12-ish kind of sound?

It definitely has a touch of that. Sweet air without being sibilant. These two mics compliment each other extremely well.

The Charter Oak is nice, I used it all weekend. C-12ish in it's voicing.

I got to play with the Pearlman a few minutes tonight. I've spent the last 6 weeks remodeling my girlfriend's bathroom and have been totally out of my studio and anything musical, but I had to wipe the plaster dust off my face and hear the thing in more detail.

It's super sweet. Plugged it into a Phoenix DRS-2 and sang some goof vocals to some rough tracks I had started for a female singer/songwriter. I LOVE THIS MIC! I'm not even a singer and it's so smooth and present that it is sure to inspire real vocalists.

I can't wait to get back to my real job

Thanks to James for "discovering" this baby and bringing it to my attention here at the ol' Gearslutz.
