Thread Starter | Best noise reduction plugs? What do you use as your go-to de-clickers, de-noisers, etc? Waves or Sony? This is for post production VO, etc. I need some really good plugs for mastering some poorly recorded stuff. |

| Not a plugin, but I was very impressed with the Weiss DNA1 that I heard at AES. I would be interested in hearing a comparison of this v. the Cedar, Waves, Sonic NoNoise, etc. (Comparison CD maybe; Lynn, where are you?)

Thread Starter | I am dealing sometimes with massive amounts of audio which I need to be able to process using audiosuite. Realtime may not be in the budget for hardware. |

| Cedar is GREAT! but very expensive. Sonic No Noise is really GOOD, but at about $1500 USD, pretty expensive. Waves Denoisers.... GOOD. fairly expensive. Waves C4, great -- acts as a DOlby CAT 43 and CAT 430. Also, Wave Arts Multidynamics is a GREAT C4 replacement. very inexpensive and you can do the same Dolby 43 & 430 tricks with it. don't forget EQ. tightly Q'd. notch out the nasties. i mix a show now with CRAPPY prod. sound. i use AT LEAST 2 EQ's on each track. Sony Oxford, Massenburg, or, a pretty good shoice, the PT DIGI III EQ -- excepot you can;t get the Q's as tight as with the others. haven' tried the SONY. no offense to anyone, but i think dfegad SOUND SOAP SUCKS BIG ARSE!!! haven't found a use for it yet...RAY GUN was better. |

Thread Starter | Since this is High end, I am less concerned with price more concerned with software solution that excels. |

if this is HIGH END, then get a cedar system. they can't be beat. yes, it is over 6 grand, but they are the best. next is sonic no noise. if it is HIGH END then you will have a variety of solutions. | |

Thread Starter | I was looking at the audiosuite Cedar plugins - they look good. I have heard mixed things about the sonic no-noise. |

Thread Starter | Ok - got the pricing on the Cedar audio plug-ins (just slightly less than the hardware). Not an option for this project. Wow. That was sticker shock. So I guess the question is Sony or Waves? I am going to download the Sony demos today and test them. |

| i said...EXPENSIVE... good luck with the project... and use LOTS of NR tools....don't be afraid to audiosuite TWICE. i find it works best if you process once at a moderate level, then run it again at another level...rather than ONCE in a BIG way... but maybe you knew that... |

| Hands down Sony... also if you have a PC the NR in Samplitude is INCREDIBLE. It is often overlooked but it is REALLY good. Right on par with the Sony. The Waves NR add too many artifacts if you want to remove any noise. ie: too many bad trade offs. |

Thread Starter | Liked the sony but I found waves to be more powerful. IT was tough but I found that the upgrade to diamond in Waves was about the same as the Sony and just the restoration bundle alone - so I went with waves. More later. Thanks for everyone chiming in. |
