Any word on this unit yet? Anyone had the chance to check it out, or seen a review on it? |

I wrote a review a while ago, and I know Lucey had one for a while and seemed to like it. Forget about the whole Neve comparison, it's different than the original. It's not trying to be exactly "the same" (the Vintech and the original share about 50% similarity). It's definitely got more coloration than the original Neve, and it's frequency 'curve' is a bit different (the real Neve has more of a high mid peak to my ears, the Vintech is a bit flatter in that area with more low mids). As far as its compression envelope, it's not as aggressive as something like an 1176, but it's not as relaxed and natural as an opto, it's somewhat in between. Good Luck.

I think Nathan has said it right on about the Vintech 609. I am a happy owner of the 609. I think the only thing I can add is that it is a compressor that requires some time spent on it to really get a handle it. Good luck! Christopher Hoffee CHAOS Recording |

I like the fact that there is an attack control...... I would like to try one of those, as the 33609 is one of my all time favorites. If the 609 is anywhere even NEAR the original, at all... It will be a compressor worth having.

I'm more curious to how the 609 compares to the LTD2, which I've tried. I don't care if either is 100% authentic, i'm interested in color, vibe, atttitude & controlability, the 609 seems to offer the most control, original units the least. I'm interested in using it in mastering for ITB mixes that need help, basically playing the role of a 2 mix comp prior to the usual mastering process. timmy! |

Thanks Nathan and Chaos. I'll do a search for that review...
