Rosetta 800 AD at 44.1, 48, 88.2 or 96K - no Big Ben

Can someone who's done this shootout give some feedback on the sound of these 4 sample rates for multi-tracking AD in the Rosetta?

I'm helping make a record with this fellas gear but I cant be there for the initial tracking, and he's asking for a sample rate.

many thanks,

96K sounds the smoothest to my ears!

Was about to ask this question myself. I read somewhere that even going 48K will yield a better sound than at 44.1k - anyone?

48kHz sounds 'beefier' to me on a Rosetta 800. No question.

And what do you do maintain that beef until the end so that when you pop in the finished CD you don't have to ask - where's the beef? Do you use something ITB to end up at 44.1 or do you go out to analog through some analog gear then back into a DAT etc to get your final master?

I know the Rosetta 200 has a great Sample Rate Converter SRC in it, but I don't think the Rosetta 800 has this (I don't receive mine until this Friday).

I was told by someone well versed in such things that one would benefit from 48k.

Apparently it makes not difference for asio based stuff, not sure about the effect on Ptools.
