AE-031 REV-X Reverb plugin for Yamaha Mixers

I am looking into a some of the Yamaha mixer plugins. Mostly interested in the REV-X Reverb. Any one have any experience with these. Right now I use an Yamama 01V96V2 mixer in my DAW setup and like to use the reverbs on the board instead of the plugins in my DAW.

Here is the link for the Reverb.

Anyone? I like to use the reverbs on the board through the Aux sends and would like to consider this reverb. Guess I am going to tack a chance but it is not cheep. Around $400 or so.

About the 01X I really don't know if they are the same. I know that the 01V96 is the "little brother" of the 02R96 witch is the "litte brother" of the DM2000. The 01X seems to be a different product line.

You can demo the add-on fx of you install the latest software version. If you push the effects button while starting up your mixer you can play around with all the add-on fx for 10 minutes. You can repeat this endlessly.
I wasn't too impressed with the rev-x algorithms though.

Thanks.... I'll do that. I have the latest version of the OS for the 01V96. Maybe they are not worth the $450 that they want for them but I will give them a try. Demo for free is good.

Just an update. I set my mixer in Demo mode tonight to check out the REV-X Reverbs. You only get 10 minutes so you have to work fast. At the end of the 10 minutes I shut the mixer down and did it again and again and again.

My impression is I think they sound fine. Not sure if they are worth $450. But they do sound very pleasing. The REV-X Plate is very nice. Consider that $450 is about 1/5 of the cost of the entire mixer I think it is a bit over priced. Then sofware isn't cheep anyway.

The way I figure it, if I am going to spend $450 on an effect I would be better taking the $450 and spending on an additional UAD-1 card for my computer. I have the UAD-1 Altra pack of plugins. I realy like the Plate 140 Reverb in the card but it does take up a lot of DSP power. An extra card might be a better use of the money.
