Very nice!

Doesn't that MA5 feel too lonely? it needs a twin!

I'm very curious about that.
just getting back around to checking this thread...

I love the eq4's, perfect for my VoiceOver work, and then strapped on the mix buss, makes a killer sweetening eq. Not really for super sharp carving, but for general tweeking. I'd highly recommend them to anyone.

IC Eqp2 - Clean and very smooth, does not pack the same type of bottom as the stepeq. Downside, No bypass LED so it is hard to see from across the studio - This eq can end up anywhere.

A-designs Em-peq - Similar to the Step but with growl/grunge - Downside, variable pots lack resistance, feel cheap although they are not. - Bass, drums

Purple odd - Not a huge fan to be honest and rarely use it. But i love the signal meter, something all other designers should incorporate.

Avedis e27 - This is an all round great sounding eq.

GR 32eq - Sergical with great filters. - Downside, LPF & HPF maybe a little too touchy.

As far as the Buzz Essence, I often use a pair to tame a vocal stem and slightly bring things forward. The other is sort of on standby.

Hope this helps, gotta run.
Awesome info! Are you still using the Inward Connections eqp2's? Or have you found anything different to replace them with?

thanks

Hey Oddio,

Still use them every day. Although I made the mistake of selling the two EQP2's I had but recently purchased 4 more. 2 to replace the ones I originally had and 2 to replace the GR 32EQ's I used to use. Their incredible on fixing vocals before compression, the "Q" can be very sharp or wide when cutting or boosting which allows for great corrective eqing (clearing out the mud, opening up the top, ect.) while keeping the source sounding natural and open. They are the best 500 series eq's I could find for frequency cutting. Simply put, I love them and do not see myself selling in the near future.

P.S. Although the Nitro's controls preformed exactly like the EQP2, it didn't sound as open as the EQP2 (I'm splitting hairs here). As far as I understand, the only difference between the two is just opamp's.

Peace out, Rabbit.

I agree, but on the other side I understand the reason behind that decision..
Avedis wanted to concentrate his work on other pieces (like the new BAE 10DC) and the e27 was very time consuming (and expensive), he was building them himself, also the shafts were cut by himself... that's why his stuff is so damn good..he put all his efforts and the utmost care in order to give the customers the best (in his vision) sounding products.

I have a pair an I'm very happy with them!

Hey Cheu,

I installed 1/8 phono jacks on all my API racks to make stereo linking and unlinking modules quickly and easy without having to remove the PCB board every time. It also allows me to link modules in different racks if needed by patching them together. Nothing special with the metering, just keeps an eye on my important I/O's. Here on the other rack you can see two Buzz Essence's linked with the patch cable.

API would be smart to adopt your design in their racks. I don't understand why every company that makes 500 series LBs & racks doesn't do something similar. Radial were smart to have simple switches on the back for linking but I'm not sure if they have anything implemented to link modules in separate racks.

+1

I don't post very much but this idea deserves recognition, very well done.
