Hey man, after purchasing the d box, I found that I did not need to use a subwoofer at all! The low end really came alive that I have to be careful of the neighbors getting irritated. Monitors: Event Ps8's and M-audio BX8A Deluxe. YMMV though depending on the monitors you have.

Number 1 gripe about the thing!

Anywho, I first hooked the outs of DBox to the ins of Sub then outs of Sub to ins of speakers. That sux no easy way to cut the sub. Then I ran out of the main outs of the DBox to the bay then to speakers then used the listen port on bay to run to another module and then out to the sub. I could at least cut the sub with term plugs. Hooked second monitors to alt out but could not use sub witht the second set.

Then tried up hooking the sub up to an external mixer and using the outs on that. Suxed ass too!

Looked at getting a unit like the coleman for speaker switching.

Was giving a Central Station and said f**k it!

The Central Station has an A,B and C output. The C can stay on with the A or B. Same freaking thing with the XDesk! WTF?

What Sub Are you using?

Many sub's have control over on/off, like the Focal Sub6BE for instance.

Consumer grade MTX, tried the Tapco sw-10 then back to the MTX. Only used the thing to see how the 808 or low bass are hitting.

I love the DBox but the lack of the following drove me nuts.

1. The lack of remote.
2. I believed that the 8 channels of summing wasn't enough
3. Should have had 3 speaker outputs on it. Hell Every Monitoring unit should have at least and a/b + sub out!

Sorry to re-awaken this thread but I am in the same boat these days - trying to use my dangerous d-box with a FOCAL SM8 and SM8-S subwoofer.

The problem is that the sub only has inputs and no outputs, so it has to be hooked up direct from the d-box. I am also using alt monitors, so I can't use the alt monitor outputs. I guess one option would be to use the sum outputs of the d-box? Another would be to get a crossover that would allow me to run signal in and out of the crossover. Any suggestions?

In another thread someone suggested a passive Coleman switch box, LS3 or something like that.

Dbox to the coleman, and on the Coleman you can turn the sub on/off.

I have the same issue, but I'm in process of moving, and so haven't tried this setup to integrate my new sub yet.

Yeah I'm sorta thinking that is the way to go. Really annoying that I need to add another piece of gear to accomplish what should be a simple task here!

Yes.. But not on it's own out like a Central Station.

I use a set of KRK Expose' 7 with a KRK s10 sub. the D-Box goes to Sub then to E7's.

My Alt speakers now are Tannoy Reveal (reds)

---added a KRK 10s subwoofer to Dangerous d box

Well, this is an update to my previous post... After moving to a new house, I found that just the Event PS8 monitors and the Dangerous dbox without a subwoofer were not cutting it. I went ahead and added a KRK 10s subwoofer and so far so good I can mix with more confidence knowing that I am hearing the potential mud and overkill better in the low end. Hook up was quite easy as the KRK unit comes with ins and outs. Very simple installation and decent price.

Peace- J

Yes I like that too..
I tend too. I wish it had more ch's. But that would be asking to much of one box. I liked the 16 on my Folcrom. But I like the sound of the D-Box. and when I think it's to clean for some mixes I like running it padded to my TG2 pres.

THe only think I don't use on it is the Talkback. I have another talkback mic setup to use. If they would have put a cue out on it then I'd use the internal mic which I think sounds good. But is only useful to the internal headphone amps.. Which clients don't use when in another room I use them once in a while.

But I later found you can use the headphone out turned all the way down as a Cue send to go to other phones. But I already have the other mic system hooked up.
