Thread Starter | rosetta 200 src on the rosetta 200, does the sample rate conversion function work in a way that would allow me to set the converter to run at say 96 or 192 sample rate, and then realtime convert it to 44.1 on the rosetta so that when i burn an audio cd i wouldn't be relying on the computer to do the downsampling, (while maintaining what sounds like a 192 file), and not using up the extra harddrive space? is that one of the intended benefits of the src function? |

| I don't know I'm afraid. I would have thought so - That is certainly how the Prism Sound Orpheus accomplishes SRC on its output, plus you get some cracking noise shaping curves when reducing down to 16bit.

| Download the manual or call Apogee. I would think that it only does SRC when receiving a digital input, as it's looking to convert a sampled signal. As far as your theory about getting the sound of 192 at the 44.1 rate, I doubt that would work either. SRC does affect the sound. But I've heard that people find that recording at the higher rates and downsampling retains some of the benefits of the higher rates, so it may depend on the gear. |
