Anyone know a good Reverb plug for an EARLY 70s sounding reverb???

Does anyone know of a good plugin to achieve the sound of early seventies reverb? I have read good things about UAD but I'm trying for a pre 1976 sound. The sound of the great Trident recordings of Bowie, Elton, Queen etc. What did they use then anyway? Any suggestions for what plug will help me get this sound much appreciated... I recently bought Altiverb, which sounds amazing and would be great if I was making a Pixar movie or something, but everything images and sounds bigtime digital. Whatever I record with my U67 mic through altiverb sounds like it was rerecorded with a cold modern mic. It just doesn't sound like music to me, since my taste is the sound of classic rock albums, and it doesn't integrate with my other vintage vibe tracks.

Well the real solutions are Cooper Time Cubes, Plates, Chambers, and tape slap feeding plates...

Plugins that can match up? You could get a UAD card and buy the plate and time cube plugs. Other than thatt, not really... but I just bought the Morevox Retroverb 3.0 IRs and the "Classic Drive" presets that were recorded to tape def. have more body and vibe than most of the IRs out there... I think it's like $100 USD. You could throw those in Altiverb and see if you like them better.

They're just IR (impulse responses) not software.. they will work with any software that reads IRs in that format.. so there should be a few plugins that work fine in PT and will read these IRs.

I tried to download the Retroverb demo but don't see it in my pro tools le plugin list (I guess it would be incorporated in my Altiverb list?) Haven't heard back from Retroverb tech about this and doesn't seem likely I will. Anyone know if there's something I should be doing to get it into pro tools/Altiverb to hear??

You're really talking about EMT 140 plates and live chambers.

the Retroverb IRs work perfect in Pro Tools/TL Space

edit: you got Altiverb, you can load the IRs in Altiverb

The Trident plate was pretty unique and not typical of the classic plate sound IMHO, it was way darker. I think that it must have been quite out of tune, but in a really magical way. The only way I could get my EMT to sound similar was to reduce the tension substantially, and then put pieces of foam on the edges to bring the high end decay time down relative to the low end decay. I know it sounds crazy because everybody else is trying to make their plates as tight an as evenly tensioned as possible for a bright sound. All this to say, neither the UAD 140 or any altiverb EMT 140 impulses that I've come across sound like the trident plate.

psb
