| For about $1k you can do a 2 part upgrade that will sound GREAT! First get a EMU 0404usb interface. You can find these used for as low as $100, new about $200. These are very good sounding convertors and in my experience the drivers are stable with Mac core audio. But the advantage of this interface is it also has SPDIF I/O. So next you need to find a used Apogee PSX-100. These sell in the $800 - $900 range. (I think these Apogees sound better than the newer Rostta series. I have both.) There you go, High End Apogee sound and still have the analog I/O of the EMU available at the same time. Plus you get midi I/O if you need it.

| it's not the card that;'s crashing - it's your machine. Any cracked VSTs? Get rid of them. |

) It was just my bad mood talking, totally unproductive. To the OP: you might get more relevant answers in 'So much gear, so little time' or 'Low end theory' (but i suggest don't post in both) (Another question to ponder is: are you sure it's the converters that are your weakest link? How about room treatment )Good luck. | |
