James Bees Neez

I received my Bees Neez James mic yesterday and it sure was worth the wait. Amazing. I had a Rode K2 before and the James has so much more body and presence and overall vibe. Was wondering though... it seems the cord that comes with the mic is picking up the Radio. More or less so depending on where it is placed. Anyone have trouble with that and no of any fixes? Also, where is the -10dB pad and the sibilance roll off? Can't seem to find it. Awesome, awesome mic though. Well worth the wait.

I don't think the James comes with the switches any longer.

Glad to hear that it arrived for you. Hopefully that indicates that mine is in the pipeline. When did you place your order, by the way?

As far as the buzz, do you have that problem with any of your other mics? My Ribbon mics gather hum when placed in certain areas of my room. But my condensers normally don't.

I recently got a Cascade Elroy Tube mic that did the same thing. I could hear a country station and it was making me crazy. I just moved the mic's
power supply from the floor to a small table and it went away. Strange though.

Sounds like a shielding problem. Maybe a bad component in the power supply or in the mic. Did you try another cord?

is this really true that the James no longer comes with a sibilance roll-off switch?????????

that's such a bummer if it's true because that feature was a main reason for my interest in this mic.

If you're around the Toronto area and you'd be willing to let me try your James, let me know!

You really don't need it on the James AT ALL.
There simply is NO sibilance with the mic. None, nada, zero, zilch.

I would have liked to have a sibilance roll-off switch for the Phelicity, which seems to have much more high end content.

Just talked to Ben on the phone, he was a really nice guy. We talked about the production of his mics, his studio, how mics were done back in the day, the state of the economy and so forth. He told me that he is going to be near Niagara Falls in 2-3 weeks, which will give me the chance to audition some of his mics. I'm really pumped!
