| The Recording the Beatles session with Kevin Ryan -- Brian was on tour -- was really very inspiring and uplifting, as was the following panel with Tony Visconti and others. A tremendous amount of respect for the craft of recording and the art of music was expressed at both events. Made me very glad I decided to attend. ![]() Cheers. ![]()

| these guys had modular sound booths. The guitarist at the end sounded completely dry even though his 'booth' had no roof! everything was reverseable and modular- you could put the door here and the light switch there. ![]() Biggest Tease Award was this touch-screen for DAWs. Why isn't this booth mobbed? Well quite frankly, because the damn thing does not work. I had to touch the solo button three times- first I got nothing, then I got mute and then I got solo. Grabbing a fader was also running about 1 for 3. Plus it totally freaked out if you tried to touch 2 faders at the same time. My iPod has a better touch screen. Everybody would love this, everybody would buy one. You have to figure that if it were possible for this thing to work, somebody would have made damn sure it worked on the first day of AES -even if they had to fly the guy in from Japan or whatever. ![]() ![]()

| Taytrix it did an amazing job of silencing the din of the convention. You can make any size or shape booth with just a few different kinds of pieces. Put a door or window wherever you want. Make it longer, make it wider. The only tool you need is this long-handled allen wrench. The light switch is on a thin wire with velcro tabs so you can stick it on any wall or even the ceiling. I have mercifully forgotten the name of the touch-screen people. If they are lucky they can live it down and come back in a few years with something that isn't a joke. |
