Got My Bees Neez Sally Today...

And my initial impression is Holy Sh*t! Man, this thing sounds so good. It seems to have a both a warmth and a clarity that I haven't had in a mic before. I have only played with it for a couple of hours, but it is going to really step up my vocal recordings.
For those of you who don't know, I had hoped to purchase a James, but Ben changed to a new Australian made casing and thus raised the price. After talking to him he offered me a Sally, an amazing upgrade, which I guess is a new model, as that it has just appeared on the website this month. If I had a chance to demo a James I could compare them, but at least I can say that I am very happy with my purchase.
Please support this fine company. As noted elsewhere, Ben's family are dealing with some medical issues and buying from him directly affects their welfare.

I would like to see what it looks like. The Beesneez website is not the best thats for sure. I wish they would put up photos of all their mics, not just some of them. As the owner of an original Jade, I'm curious to see what the new ones look like as well.

Well, used and owned are two very different things.

Used just about all of the classics, but this is the most expensive and best mic I have ever actually owned. Up to this point, the Blue Baby Bottle, a MP of 214s, and a couple of Oktava 219s were the top of my locker. That would be what I can fairly compare it against. I haven't had access to anything nicer in this room, so I can't really A/B any files that would be accurate. But my ears are telling me "Wow".
I take some photos tomorrow, but sound file will be a few days.

Is there any room for a mic on that logo?

Anyway, I'd like to see the innards and compare to my Phelicity, which uses the same tube (I think) and transformer but a different capsule (C12b vs K47).

Here are pics of my Phelicity:

Have to say the big logo doesn't really do it for me.

I personally quite like the large logo. Also, the logo is much smaller on the other, longer, mics.

Okay, more "Sally, naked" photos coming up. Taking a break right now, but I'll snap some later and post after session.

Ben emailed me today. His answer to the James comparison was...

Compared to the James, the sally is more open and has a further extending top end, the james is smoother and has a very natural roll off in the high frequencies.

Straight from the makers mouth. As to the Logo, I like it.

Hi,
just wondering if you might have the chance now to post some samples of the Sally for us.
That would be much appreciated.
Michael.

i love the way those mics look, very unique.........

and if you check out the gear shootouts forum, there are tons of beesneez mic samples that give a pretty good representation of the mics.
