Download the latest version of the firmware, 1.5 I believe, from the Prismsound website. There are an installer and instructions included in the zip-file.

In my case, 1.5 was the installed version, yet reinstalling it made the problems go away !?! at least the unit is trouble free since I did this about 3 weeks ago.

Good luck! The Orpheus deserves to be working right!

One important question: right after installation procedure there doesn't show up any dialog window confirming setup was succesful. I mean there is only "Setup is running..." and suddenly disappears. Is it OK? If not, then Orpheus' whole setup is not complete and that's why the problems come.

Isn't that the case when you install the drivers and control panel on the computer?
Works OK on my computer (PC).

That's not what I meant, I mean updating/reinstalling the firmware inside the orpheus, for which you should follow the steps I described above.

I haven't seen this list before. If sample rates over 44k1 are causing drop-outs, there must be something wrong with your system's configuration.

Please contact tech.support@prismsound.com for help.

Just to let you know, the problems I was having just stopped occuring until a couple of weeks ago when my Orpheus started shutting down again.
Just after a very slight buzzing sound that comes from my left side speaker the unit just powers off and it won't restart until I reconnect it to my power supply a few minutes later.
I just updated to firmware 1.06. Let's see what happens but this really, really worries me because this problem not only damages my speakers but is also a big stability issue for my sessions.
I just sent an email to Prism support, just hope we can find a solution to this without me having to send the unit to England.

Prismsound abandoned The orpheus since early 2010.

Last time they did an update was:Control Panel software V1.06 & drivers for Windows. (Released 5 Feb 2010)
And for mac Control Panel software V1.07 for Mac OS X (PowerPC or Intel, released 10 Feb 2010) (Wich unlike the PC version at least works)
They don't care.Plus this thing does not work with pro tools 9 at 96khz at all.

Well it's still listed on their website. I know they usually take long periods of time between updates.
Paradoxically, besides the issues I'm having the Orpheus is a wonderful interface.
I hope and I expect they will still give us users the support we deserve?

My first Orpheus broke down right before the end of warranty. Prism replaced it with a new one. I turned it on and after three or five minutes it lost power and turned off. That was happening every time. They did replace it once again, always at their cost including shipping. I appreciated that BTW, but after this I sold it and I don't think I will ever buy anything from that company. My friend has now very similar problems with his unit. Bad construction for a lot of money. Sounds great when working.

In my particular case I've been getting lots of great assistance from Prism team. The power off problem would go on and I was getting absolutely frustrated until one day the same problem happened and I reached for the back of the unit to see if touching the power inlet would help. I pressed the fuse instead and the unit came back to life.
I then called my technician and we discovered the fuse was a little loose inside its slot so we applied a reinforcement on it to make it sit better, put the fuse back to its place and never had another problem since then.
I'm yet to report these develpements to the Prism team.

And I'll say it again: I LOVE the sound and the performance of the Orpheus.
