New Gear Advice

Hi. I'm new to Gearslutz.

My setup is

Digi 002 with Mac PB 1.25. I need more than 8 simultaneous channels to record a band with Drums, Guitar, Bass, Vocals etc.

I have Millennia HV-3 4 channel, Manley VoxBox and SPL Gold Mike Pres.

However, none of these pres connect to 002 via ADAT. Any recommendations for 8 extra channels via ADAT.

Would love a Crane Song Spider - anyone know how good this is?

Are there cheaper options?

Should I just upgrade to Pro Tools HD?

Thanks

The Spider is phenominal in its functionality as well as sound. IMO you can't beat it for the money(not much cash per channel of excellent pre's and converters, not to mention the submixing and summing capabilities).

Thanks for reply. Do you own one? Where would I get a good deal on one. I don't see many of them second hand.

I bought the Millennia for recording Classical Music but now I want to record rock/pop bands also.

Sorry, don't own one but have worked quite a bit on a few of them. As for where you can get them, I'd recommend Mercenary. Great service and people. I've never seen one second hand either, so I'd say that that only further shows how awesome they are !
