Question Sync question?

I have Logic running via RME Raydat through a RADAR V...

I have Radar as master using SMPTE/LTC via a motu midi xpress XT...

This is fine - however

What if i want logic to be the master? HELP?

Cheers

Logic can transmit timecode as MTC no problem. In the syncronization tab of settings, you can choose the framerate and in that tab or the MIDI tab (I forget) you can send MTC to selected MIDI output ports. Radar can sync to incoming MTC I believe.

If you want to use LTC, it's trickier for Logic to be the master. The most straightforward way is to create an audio track in Logic that has LTC on it (in audio form) and simply play it to an audio output, and send that to the LTC input of the Radar. This works pretty well actually, especially at higher sample rates where the edges of the LTC signal can be very sharp and clean. But you need some kind of softare to create the LTC for you. If you want your MIDI interface or audio interface to generate and transmit LTC from the actual timecode internal to Logic, I think that only the old Edirol interfaces can do that (not sure about this). RME firefaces 800s with TCO were supposed to be able to do it, but they (RME) never made this work...

Hey man!

So MTC from logic to RADAR and LTC from RADAR to logic?

Or even MTC both ways would be fine - not fussed really to be honest

Just want it to work!

Is that going to work for me?

Wicked thanks man.... brilliant

Will try MTC on monday
