DVD - CDR for music matering?

Is a DVD recorder with CDR recording capabilty suitable for mastering? Most will only let you record at 4X as the lowest setting. THANKs for any help.

A very good DVD recorder can burn CDs with very low error rates if that's what you meant by "mastering" (i.e. delivering a medium such as a CD-R to a replication plant).

Plextor makes very good DVD burners.

The Plextor 716 (or the slightly older but still excellent 712) are fantastic DVD/CD burning drives, and both run PlexTools Professional - The two are the only DVD drives that do.
