Thread Starter | Prism Orpheus vs DAD AX24
Hello, what of this two should I take? I get a good deal on the DAD AX24 with 2 ins and 4 outs. For MIDI I would go with the RME HDSPe AES. The Orpheus is all in one but the DAD converters are the top of top notch? Thanks, Schizzo |

I would probably get the AX-24 but it depends on a lot of factors that you don't mention. Where are you getting your unit from, if I may ask? |

I would definitely get the DAD AX24. You can upgrade as funds will allow. You can even get it with 8 mic pre's with we think are awesome! Regards, |

I would consider current and future support. Prism is a solid business with an excellent track record. |

| Lives for gear | They are excellent, but Forssell MADC-2 is sounding yet better (more clear, deep, detailed, natural). I have both here side by side ... and use primarily MADC-2. The new MDAC-2 should come very soon, should it be sounding as great the AD, it would be a dream DA then |

Yesterday I did a shootout between digi 192, DAD, Prism ADA8XR and Radar ADA. While the DAD sounded very good and natural the prism had a tiny bit faster transient response as well as more depth and detail. Talking about nuances here really. IMHO the prism is the best converter I ever heard. Order placed. Not shure if the orpheus sounds as good as its big brother. |

| Some claim it's up to it, if not nuance better , but both are not my favs as number one choice.

I must agree on the Prism, it is also worth noting that it is a company that will be around for a while, while certain other companies died a half death this year and have major issues with their production line. If your unit dies on you, Prism will be there with a loaner while they repair your unit. |

And the Mytek 8x192? Lets say Mytek 8x192 vs DAD AX-24. Is the DAD better? A hair or more? And, and, and,... |

The two years which passed since this thread started brought a big improvement in converter quality. The new avid hd i/o is even better than the top of the range prism at a fraction of the price. Great times ! |
