X-Rack Dynamics: E-Series or SuperAnalogue Dynamics?

I'm considering a 2nd X-Rack of Dynamics.
I bought my X-Racks before the E-series came out, so my Dynamics and EQ's are all SuperAnalogue.

I love the Dynamics on drums, and also like the punch I get with guitars, etc.

For guitars/piano/organ, would you buy a rack of E-Series Dynamics or a 2nd rack of SuperAnalogue?

Yes, I know, it's all subjective.........just looking for some opinions from those who have used both, now that the E-Series have been out a while. How do they differ?

Material is mostly old country rock, blues, Dylan-like stuff..................no hard rock.

Since I already have two racks of the SuperAnalogue EQ's, I am reluctant to ask about the E-Series EQ's......................I may not like the answers.
Actually, I really like these EQ's for basic work..................but I probably should try a pair of E-Series EQ's.

You alone can answer this question. Try and get some E-series modules on loan and see what you think. I wouldn't say better or worse, just different... although you many have a preference for one over the other.

Yes, I know that reply..............I have given it many times, myself.
And of course you're right.
I'm trying to do that right now.

I'm just looking for some input on specific differences, that's all.
Some guys here are very good at articulating the fundamental differences in gear.

The broader question is:
If you had 2 X-Racks of Dynamics and two X-Racks of EQ's, what would be in them, and why?

Thrill, where are you??

I prefer the E dynamics in most scenarios.

More punch or less punch, Tony?
More colored?
Even for drums?

Thanks!

More of what I would call "crunch".

You must be a guitar player, Tony.

At times.... Not a very good one, though.

I'm more into the Super Analogue for punch and the E Series for crunch. These days when I want crunch I go to something other then SSL and use the Super Analogue for what they do best. I also like the gates better on the Super Analogue.

I have E series EQs and SuperAnalogue dynamics. For me, there's more bottom, more smoothness, and a sheen to the SA dynamics that I love - probably in the same way that Tony prefers the "crunchyness" of the E Dynamics.

As the varied opinions expressed will attest to it's an issue of personal choice.....

"Punch and Crunch" - sounds like a workout or a breakfast cereal...

Or something that precedes "Kapow!".

FYI, after some very helpful detailed PM's from several of you, I am going to stay with the SuperAnalogue dynamics. I really like the characteristics of the SA's that Jim mentions: smoothness, powerful bottom, sheen. And it also fits with my general approach of staying relatively clean with mixer and bread & butter comps/EQ's.............then I can add color elsewhere as needed with 2254, 33609, etc.

Thanks for the help!
