which console is the shadow hills nickel trans based on?
i was at the vintage king website......salivating as usual.

i came across this description for the nickel transformer of the Equinox:

"Custom Nickel Transformer (hand wound transformer based on a L.A. custom console) Super clear and wonderful sounding. "

so i was wondering, which "custom console" are they referring too?

I believe it's based on one of the custom consoles at Sunset Sound.

Shadow Hills Nickel Transformer - Origin
Nickel - Clean (DeMedio)
Iron - Colored (Neve)
Steel - Dirty (API)

The attached file came from an interview Jules posted a while back with Peter Reardon describing the SH Compressor, but he talks about the transformers in the interview. Love my SH Gama w/Iron mod. Search on Peter's name or Shadow Hills, there is a ton of info.

FYI -- In the MP3, Peter says the Nickel Transformer is modeled after the De Medio at Sunset Sound.

I was told by a tech while taking a tour of Sunset Sound that the De Medio console mic pre uses a Jenson transformer.The goal being clean and wide bandwidth.
