ADL1000, UA La2a, Original La2a vs DIY La2a

Anyone have experience in a DIY La2a and compared them against any of these units like the ADL1000, UA La2a, Original La2a, Skribble, etc.

Yes and no. I changed out the ADL1000 T4 for a real UA T4 replaced both transformers and changed the circuit to be the same as an La2a. That's almost a DIY. Everything is the same as an La-2A except the wiring routing. Does that make a difference? Yes it does. You can get into feedback issues through capacitive coupling. You can also move things around. Twist some of the lines and pretty eliminate it.

The gain reduction in the ADL1000 stock is not linear because of some design issues I have discussed in other threads. Your DIY will outperform it if your goal is a transparent kind of reduction. An ADL1000 with the corrections or a real LA-2A should be competitive with a good DIY if the DIY lead placement is carefully done to reduce the probability of feedback and if the components are high quality.
