Thank you Michael. Honestly it is so great to be able to bounce ideas off of you and others here, sometimes I can't get over how the Internet has changed things.

Okay last question and I will stop pestering you..... for now anyway.

So if you are doing double tracks of something, guitars for instance, do you keep the same mic and switch pres, do you keep the same pre and switch mics or do you keep or ditch the whole chain??

Also (question 1a.. thumbsup ) I would assume that you are using different guitar tones as well for each pass but....?? Different amps, same amp different guitar etc...??

Thanks again.

If they are into getting the best possible sound for their project, they'll put up with it. Also, I try to do all this right brain (technical) stuff on one day, then go home and start fresh with the left brain (creative) stuff the next day.

Ah, makes a lot of sense

I wish I had projects that had big enough budgets to spend that kind of time on getting sounds.

Me too

In fact that's the main reason I got my own studio, so even with smaller budgets I can still deliver a great album and don't have to watch the clock.

Hi Michael

Thanks, I was bothering you on that thread as well....

That is the thread that prompted me to write this one actually.

As a matter of fact I has a question on that thread, got lost in the noise, that pertains to this discussion. Hope you don't mind me re-posting it here.....

Do you have a "thing" you look for between each amp or is it hit or miss? My "thing" is to have a nice mostly clean sound to go with an outrageous distorted amp or a springy distortion with a thick distortion. I guess my question would be do you match amps that are radically different, like a Twin and a Triple Rec or are your amp pairings more in the same stream like a Plexi and a JCM 800 for example?

That totally depends on what I'm going for, absolutely no rules, could be different from song to song or even from track to track, everything goes.
