What's the difference between the Rev A or Rev D of the 1176 compressors?

I am going to build those 1176 diy clones but stuck with a choice of whether going the Rev A or rev D way. What are the sonic differences between the two and which would you recommend to be a better compressor for vocals or more general compressor.

Whats the benefit of going Rev A, are they both Low Noise (LN)?

The low noise circuit was added with Rev C, when the designation officially become 1176LN. The revision history is here: UA WebZine "Compression Obsession" August 03 | 1176 and LA-2A Revision History. Sorry that I've never had a Rev A, only D/E, so I can't provide the sonic comparison. Hopefully somebody else will. Hope this helps at least a little!
