Thread Starter | Your favourite drum sample library???
Just wondering which drum sample libraries really cut the mustard with you ...... I have BFD but I'm wondering what else is out there. I'm mainly looking for solid, realistic, multisampled acoustic drums, but if I can get electronic kit sounds also (Roland 707, 808, 909, CR78, Simmons, etc) I'll be "in mud". Also, Soundreplacer Vs Drumagog: your preference??? Cheers all.

We compared several and went with DFHS for our needs. It was clear that the choice depended on what the intended use was. None of the main names out there are bad, just different.

Soundreplacer has done me justice don't know the other... What are you programming for? General use or is there a main type of music you do? T.

Have you checked out the Giga stuff? Got that too.... Ain't mad at them at all.. The Steve Gadd loops with the sounds all broken down and the other sets they have (Nice). Tried Stylus with the Abe Laboriel and other loops? Having played with both of them I can't afford to have them sit in my living room and wait to pay them everytime I wanna write/demo a song so it's not too bad having the Giga studio and Stylus software either. So many out there.... T |

I’m looking for high-quality samples of acoustic drums + cymbals + percussion to replace poorly tracked/crap sounding drumkits, mainly in the indie rock vein. Not so much interested in loops, just sample libraries and sound replacing software. Anyone used Drumagog??? Whaddyareckon???? |

DFHS really rules. It is just great. Hard to beat. I've heard many folks rave about Drumagog but I haven't used it. I've used soundreplacer for years when needed. It's not bad but I'm sure there's better technology by now (drumagog maybe?). mckay |

For straight ahead acoustic kits it would be hard to beat the huge variety and high quality of Larry Seyer's new Acoustic Drum collection. Well over 100 complete drums sets - each element multi-sampled -- and multiple variations of each set. There is so much material here that he even includes midi auditions of each of the sets to help find your way through the library... http://www.larryseyer.com/lsl/ |

i've been using bfd with good results- but i hear the scarbee imperial drums are worth checking- i believe their kits offer more velocity layers per drum- really nice for electronic kit triggering. |

| DFHS over BFD
I've been using both BFD (all libraries) and DFHS, and I have to say that the DFH people have the edge in sound quality on their samples. I usually have both runing in the same session. The BFD interface is perhaps slightly more user friendly, but I find myself constantly favoring the DFHS sounds. That being said, i'm glad i have both for flexibility. I would die to jump at the Seyer GS3 library since hearing it, but I refuse to buy a PC at this point just for gigastudio. If you're running a PC, i would seriously consider that.

Man - have you checked out the funky video that Larry did to demo the drum lib? You've never seen so many cuts and camera angle changes before. It certainly keeps your attention... Great sounding library though -- raises the bar for what's possible IMO.
