| This has been covered extensively on the board. Just search for "mix bus compressor" "2 bus compressor" "which compressor is good on a mix" "how do I make my mix glue" shit like that I presume.. There's tons of divided opinions, as there always is on this board.. At the end of the day, it completely depends on the type of content you're mixing, and the desired effect/tone/sound/energy you want the comp/limiter to impair on your program material. For me I'm a fan of Neve compression.. 33609 or a pair of 2262's is what I really like.. But then I've also enjoyed vari-mu compression on a mix for different stuff. For me it's flavour as oppose to glue. A lot of people like the SSL mix comp.. They;re built into the boards, or can be outboard unit.. There's a few types.. It's nice, but mehh for me.. Then there's the TG1 limiter, which has been pretty awesome sometimes for me.. Then the Al Smart C2 which is sickness too.. Maybe with the money you're looking at, possibly stick to VCA.. END OF THE DAY MATE... Look at EVERY 2 channel compressor from every decent manufacturer in your price range.. Research the tits out of them. Rent/loan/borrow the ones you think fit the bill.. Rep it up hard. Look for units with decent attack and release controls.. Sorry for the rant.

| You could consider the Gyraf G10. I really like that one on the masterbus - but then again I should, shouldn't I? Juuust outside the budget at USD3665 today - but probably coming closer soon, if exchange rates keep changing like they did recently. Jakob Erland Gyraf Audio |

| I agree with Jakob. The Gyraf G10 is an amazing compressor. But please use the search function to find more suitable mix bus comps. |
