So true...

However, the name of the site is "GearSlutz" - i.e., "those that lust for audio gear". I'd say that it's living up to its name! (The number of '500-lunchbox' units you own is like the number of notches on your bedpost, and those with vintage U47's have supermodel girlfriends!!)

Here's an idea to make the site more effective: Allow readers to rate the quality of a post/poster. The average rating of any given post can be displayed on that post. A member's average rating will be displayed under a poster's avatar. This will allow the cream to rise to the top, so to speak.

Also, I'd recommend a sub-forum that is less gear-centric and more info/technique-centric.

If you surf a lot of High End Studio sites you'll see them in almost every studio along with others of the AT 40 series. I have only the AT 4050's so that's all I'll comment on. Regards ,,deda,,
Tons of great Pre's but not one decent mic. I would invest in U87 Vintage or AT4060 rather than AT4050. Price difference of maybe $100 but it will be worth it. The U87 might be a little hype but its hype that will bring you clients.

This is a great idea but keep in mind that ratings can bring unwanted traffic as well. I still think its +1 if you know how to read through them.

I cannot stress this enough: the room matters so much and it's nice to know you have budgeted for it...! But be sure somebody out there takes a look at your plans, or that you bring somebody in who knows the pitfalls of construction and the process to (A) save money and (B) make effective use of the money you spend.

It's amazing what little steps you can overlook that compromise a room's effectiveness.

+1 for Jeff Headback! Great guy, very knowledgeable!
