Thread Starter | Show me your mic locker...but NOT the mics.
As much as I like the cases that mics come in, I hate storing them in the cases and dragging them around... and would prefer a central cabinet for all my mics... but something nice and safe. I've been thinking about getting a cabinet that just has drawers and put in some dividers with foam or felt etc and store all my mics in something like. What do you guys have? Post some pics... thanks!

If you saw mine, I have dowels that the quick clips slide over.

I was curious about that, JJ - we use the quick clips as well for everything and considering your collection, I was wondering if you liked those or not.
When I showed up they were still screwing mics on for every setup, and it was a pain to find 60+ quick clips to make sure every mic and stand were quick-clipped.
They seem to work great for us, but I'm always curious to see what other people are using!

Admittedly not nearly as cool as some other lockers shown here on the GS, and definitely not arranged all neat and orderly for a proper photo-shot, but if you look closely you'll see some empty pegs that our quick-locks slip onto. Makes it easy.

Our cabinet is a wonderful, actual cabinet! Came from Capricorn...
We ran out of holes inside, though, gotta keep a bunch of mics up top...

I keep all my mics in a a couple "pick-apart-foam" pelican cases. They look amazing when in there, and they are very well protected and fit the actual mics like a glove. I do it for two reasons, 1. I do live sound as well as studio work so I split some of the mics into different cases depending on the job (drum mics, guitar mics, vocals, bass, etc), 2. I find it is a lot neater, and they are not out in the open to conditions that might be bad for them...
Perhaps I'll post a picture when I head home.

As well, when there is a session that isn't an "in-house" thing, the performance areas are as spotless as you can keep a WAREHOUSE.

Is Mike still there?

I've used an old 1940's card catalogue for a couple years. Most mics fit in the drawers but some of the cases and pwr supplies for condenser and large ribbon mics I have to keep on top of it.

Mine is an ever expanding stack of Seahorse Se710s (think pelican but less $$) diced foam every mic in its own plastic bag with the little packets of the moisture absorbing stuff replaced every 6 months!

50's-60's hutch 100 bucks on craigslist...it will work until we outgrow it.
glass windows keep dust out and give a kind of showcase...keep the best mics on the "top shelf" of course.
fyi..the gourd is a snake drum from some indian snake charmers i met in nepal...snake skin with a string running from center out to a handle... you pick the string as you adjust the tension with the handle. weird n cool...
