Best of luck with the new digs.

But as someone who worked at the original United Western.....actually, my very first ever pro gig was in that room with a live orchestra and me on a synth. Straight to 2 track with a 24 track backup.....

I have to say, although beautiful, it makes me sad.

Still, I wish you all the best.

It looks like a Philippe Starck design! I love his work, but the studio looks... um... crazy... Hah Hah... be it good or bad... def. getting the shock factor out of it

Yikes

I realize beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me, I think it is quite ugly.

I'm sure it's still a great studio however.

Funny.

It somehow reminds me of my first mother-in-law's "white" living room.

You weren't allowed to go in there and everything was covered in plastic.

I would guess no food or drinks are allowed within a five block radius.

BTW... where is the "control room"?

Pretty pics, though.

I'd love to work there, I've used the Altiverb presets to death!!! Seriously though it looks a little over the top and unwelcoming, much prefer the homely vibe...... what have they done with the actual studios (where you spend ALL your time)?????

ps. great its still open though, just can't resist commenting!!

Thanks!

You'll be pleased to know that we never changed the actual studios, they already had a magical sound that we wanted to preserve, we fixed a few broken panels, did some general maintenance, added new lighting, the power was completely shot and we replaced the power in the entire building with hospital grade power that the vintage Neve's and newly acquired Trident A Range will love, sent all mics out to be tested etc. etc. - a new lease on life that will hopefully last another 50 years.

I was at the big Re-opening party last Saturday and while the redecoration may not be to everyone's taste, there are enough variety in the lounge areas where you will find a place to chill between creative bursts.

I liked the upstairs lounge (Pool table room) and kitchen areas, the best.

As to the studios, 3 of the 5 were open and it was truly like stepping back in time. For me, standing in studio 3 (Pet Sounds) was just magical! It is also amazing how good the live rooms sound. I am glad Doug did not change a thing in these rooms.

With Doug's permission I could post some of the pics of the studios I took with a small portable camera.
