| Lives for gear | Rupert Neve? Ok.......... 1st Question: What makes him "Da Man"? 2nd Question: Does anyone a list of all the gear He designed or has his design? 3rd Question: Do they all have a different sound? I ask because I've gotten mixed opinions about the very few I have heard. CIB, ISA428, 9098 with EQ

| Mr. Neve is more revered for his earlier design than the ones you've mentioned. The 10xx series and the 80 series consoles. Check his site for a bio and list of designs Of course they all sound different.

| What most people fail to understand is that Rupert Neve did not design MOST of the older classic Neve gear. He was the figurehead, he set the company standards and others did the design work. He did final approval. Please don't get me wrong, he is very talented. But his primary talent is knowing what recording engineers want and what works for the long haul. At least that was his talent, back then. I'm not sure where his talents lay now, and to be honest, who cares. Jeff |

| I didn't think RN was a designer at all. It's the original, pre AMS, Neve stuff that I think of as the Neve sound really although the ideas have carried on the modern componants often lead to a bit less of a beefy sound in the later stuff. |

Sorry, I don't read the magazines---except "Resolution." I'm not interested in checking your review. The magazines are a time sponge--- merely an encouragement to develop EAD. (Equipment Acquisition Disease)--it's kinda like that disease the Bob Dole talks about. | |
