downsampling to 44.1/16

who does downsampling to 44.1khz/16bit, and with what?
internal (soft.) ?
external ?

results?

who does it on commercial releases typically??? IF thats what you mean, then it would be the Mastering Engineer

other then that anyone who wants to put there music on CD who records at a higher sample rate.

a good free SRC can be found @ www.voxengo.com called r8brain

you would be amazed how many of my clients does it themselves...(they have a cd then to listen too)
some of them even do it with the dac's of their dat machine, really
always suprised that they record in a higher sample and bitrate and than
kill it with a very bad conversion...
