Hi, Casey, I have a question regarding the use of the Bricasti with Cubase and Busses:

Is it possible to use a single Bricasti Verb Patch in Cubase in order to apply simultaneously to 4 or more stems (Strings, Brass, etc) with a certain amount of it? (ala Altiverb)

i.e.: record those stems from Midi tracks with the verb applied simultaneously but with different settings on each (as a send, I guess) .

The engineer I spoke with said no because it only has two outs, but still, Altiverb also has 2 outs, and when inserted as a group effect, it can be applied when bouncing to the different stems bus and this have the verb applied from a same patch, with different amounts of it into each, separate stem.

Thks for clarifying.

Yes.

Just set up a stereo send for each stem. Each send can have level, eq, panning applied individually.

These sends would all be to the same stereo aux send bus. This aux send bus would then provide the input to the M7. The M7 would apply a single patch to this input, and return a single stereo pair to a single stereo aux return.

In Nuendo (pretty sure it is the same in Cubase )we just set it up as an external effect, choose the input and output and it shows up as a VST stereo effect exactly the same as Altiverb or any other reverb plug. Then you just send any track to it as you would Altiverb. Looks the same, acts the same, but certainly doesn't sound the same!

Thank you, I tried to do that, as a VST effect, but it only seems to apply to monitoring (reverb won't be applied to the stems bounce initally), I would need to bounce each stem separately with the bricasti, something which is slowing my workflow.

This is how I did my setup:

Cubase studio: (RME Fireface audio card)
Ins: Fireface 1,2,3,4
Outs: Stereo out Fireface 1,2
Group/fx: (stems busses) Strings, WWs, Brass, Perc => stereo out
External FX: Bricasti

What I'm doing with the Bricasti is creating an Fx Channel Track, then send each amount into the group/fx busses (the stems)

I can monitor and listen to that, but it won't be recorded unless I record the stems again individually.

If you don't mind, can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thks!!

Iván

I thought you were talking about hearing the M7 on multiple tracks/groups during playback. If you want to print the reverb, do the same setup - create an external effect in VST connections, route the proper ins and outs to the M7, and create it as a VST effect. Then, create a stereo audio track, create a stereo input called "M7 in" or anything you want to call it, and set the input for your audio track that you wish to record the reverb onto to the "M7 in". Monitor enable that audio track with the speaker icon. Then go to each track that you want to send to the reverb and do so exactly the same as you would with any other plug verb. Record the audio as the reverb plays, and you will have it. Repeat as many times as you need for individual reverb tracks. You should get used to doing this, as you will most likely be printing tons of M7 reverbs to get as many of them as you can in each project!

Casey, sorry for being off topic but the rumor mill has hit me twice in the past week that you're developing the greatest converter of all time. Any truth to this or do I tell these guys they're delusional?

Just thinking out loud here...

....considering that the in and output section of the M7 is top notch, it's only a small step to make this into an converter.

Thks, Scott, but will that mean applying the Verb to each separate stem each time, and thus multiply by 4 or 5 the workflow?

I don't need to to that in Altiverb, honestly I don't know how I do it, but I can print directly the verb into the stems without having to render them separately...I really want to use the Bricasti, but not at the expense of losing too much time (and I won't be able to afford another one in a looong time )

Sorry if I'm going a bit Off topic, btw

Casey, that thing is sick. But the guys that talked about it aren't going to use it exactly as intended: they put together elite club sound systems and are talking about replacing Lavry Black converters with it.

Wow...after a little while using the M7...I can only say this is a really impressive beast!!!

Awesome sound, awesome definition, it makes everything sit at once, with almost no effort...

I'm using this mostly for sampled based productions, and everything comes alive...

Well done, guys, can't wait for the V2
