Here are some pics of my basement studio. Not a lot of outboard gear for me. I opted to go with a great front end (BAE 312a and Avedis MA5 preamps, Lynx Aurora converters and a host of different mics) and then stay in the box for everything else.

The mains are a pair of Urei 809a's that I've had since the mid 80's. I know there are a lot of great monitors that have come out since, but these have served me well and I couldn't justify buying something new after building the rooms.

The Boogie that you see is an old Mark III Simul-Class. Great sounding amp. What you didn't see in any of the pics are the amp heads that are in the control room. I've got a CAA OD-100 Classic+, Dr Z Route 66 and a Dr Z Maz 18 Jr NR.

Beautiful studio but you can hear the train

and it was used by Emagic it its adverts pre-Apple buyout (along with a lot of other very recognizable studios.)

love this thread!

I've had the immense pleasure at tracking guitar at JJ Blair's place. A great engineer and super cool hang. Rob K, I must live a few blocks from you in the Sh'Oaks, so if you ever wanna do a studio tour, let me know - I'd love to visit.

You have to start somewhere, right? Last month, I entered the home recording market. Pro Tools HD1 and Rosetta 800 on MacPro 8-core. Bought a lunchbox with a 512 and a Great River and am completely addicted to the medium. The joke is, I have everything EXCEPT the MAC (!!). Ordered before xmas, but there was a problem with the spec and I just found out it's getting re-ordered Monday - the waiting truly is the hardest part...

But hey! this is a corner of a bedroom in a 3rd story apartment! I'm building an enclosure in my walk-in closet to track my amps.

onward and upward

good eye, azirkin! you know, the company that made that declined to take credit for it! that was a $9 (new) keyboard that was advertised in a credit card statement i got once and NO WHERE - on the keyboard, on the box - was a manufacturer! and - oh, it's so beautiful - its totally 'in tune' but the keys are way off - so if you hit what you would think would be a 'C', it comes out as an 'F#'...oddly enough, on some days the mellotron has the same problem

Someone has been buying WAY too much gear from Aki! Hah Hah. Nice kit, several of the same pieces adorn my space as well. Doing a bit of refurbing, will get some of pics of mine up some time in the next few weeks.

Cheers

My problem with this many monitors has nothing to do with bad reflections. I'm just too easily distracted. After 20 minutes, my control room would look like this...

Why do you need that many LCD's? Do you use sun lotion?

Getting personal now? You don't even know if that's him, and if it is, that is a kick-ass tattoo.
Japanese body-art rocks big time and contains far from "awful colorful shapes"...they are mythological stories, spiritually characterizing the person wearing them.

Maybe your screens are leaking sensitivity....

Hey, don't worry about it too much m127!

Your place isn't my kind of thing for my work space, but it's undeniably spectacular and as you say for your workflow works extremely well. That's the most important factor in all of these pics that everyone's sharing.

Anything extreme will be given observations in the extreme both ways. Your place is just that. Be proud!

there's one undeniable truth about my setup... it undeniably shows a significant effort on my part, it shows caring and a certain measure of talent to put it together.

on the other hand, the shapes on the body of the guy in the picture show one undeniable truth... they undeniably show a significant effort, caring and a certain measure of belief in order to use his body as a canvas with the pain that this entails.

point: he mocked my effort and caring... I then mocked his caring and effort back... Should he showed some sensitivity first, I would have never mocked his(your) beliefs

I had seen his gigantic signature-pic before, and while it is undeniably disturbing to say the least, I always respected the fact that he finds it useful(?) to have it.

Others mocked my setup in this thread, but, really, I could'nt care less... My setup is unique AND spectacular, and don't need any confirmations even though I have received plenty

Take this as a take on experimentation from this side to observe the reaction if I dared to punch back and laugh at something that seemed important to the starter... He declared I should be ashamed of myself!!!... OMG, I could not laugh harder. Humanity is simply awesome!

I won't give further explanations. I prefer to remain on the non-beligerant side as much as possible.

Shall you or anybody else decide to keep mocking something I evidently care for (because you are not leaking any sensitivity from your one screen, do you?), that is fine... I hope however we remain focused on the POST PICS OF YOUR STUDIO topic, which could be considered a smart, positive thing to do...

And btw, few things are as personal as the place where a man works... have a look at the thread, I challenge you to find one single post with me mocking anybody's efforts, quite the contrary actually.

I don't know why I waste time explaining this basic stuff, really...
Hi sorry but I have to reply to your long post...

Please read my 2 posts one more time with a sense of humour. I wasn't trying to make you look bad. I'm sure it took some time to make that setup work and yes it's very impressive and unique.

It feels like you took it a little too far. Hope I didn't offend you too much man.

My bad. Oh and I removed my signature picture...

I took some pics of my humble room then tried to run them through the Neve 88RS channel strip set to expander/gate. Didn't work.

I thought I would post mine here before it gets all torn apart and rebuilt. I'm getting ready for a new desk and new room treatment. All this stuff will be pretty much gone.

Wow everybody has posted up some amazing studios. I feel crappy for being so broke. I'll include a photo of my studio at the mix position but really it's not much. I just recently made a move to get pro tools for my studio and so far it's probably the single most intelligent decisions I made. I don't have HD but being able to work with other people off the bat when dealing with projects from a larger( and most likely nicer studio) makes my day that much easier. Hope you guys like my speakers Boston Acoustic CR8 home theater speakers they sound far and above the speakers I had been using which are right below them acting as stands.
