EXPERT ADVICE NEEDED! Extending Mogami snake from Digi 192

I have teh two sets of DB5 Mogami snakes for the Digi 192 (or whatever they are called),

Each set is 10', perfect short run for going direct in and out of my rakced gearm pre's, compressors, etc.

Except... my monitor channel is a Coleman Audio unit (great by the way for the big console monitor section sound) HOWEVER, due to studio ergonomics and logistics, the 2 channels of Mogami digi 192 outputs needed for monitoring are another 5 feet or so than I have...

1. Would it sonically be ok to extended those two Mogami channels with an matched set of Mogami cables? Any siginigacnt loss or horrible side-effects? Or would that be ok (we're only tal;king another 5 feet and staying with the SAME Mogami cable (also no need for a Mogami/Monster, whatever debate

2. Is there a better way to monitor out of my Digi 192 to my Coleman Audio speaker/device swithcer unit?

Advice and difinitive answer GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks, as always.

Andrews

I wouldn't care if it was Mogami/Salami
You gotta' go with the ergonomics and with what's practical in your
situation.

If you don't wanna' raise, that is..

Umm, thanks... but sill. please.

While ergonomics IS important, if adding extra length Mogami (by literally clicking in another 5'cable into each l/R side of the snake) changes the fidelity, resulting is a lesser THAN image/sound/depth in my monitoring, from which I mix EVERYTHING, I'd like to know the best way to go and if this is ok.

Please.

But if you won't settle for a 15" snake or whatever length you need for the
Coleman, you're caught in the middle, right?
How about custom made cables?
Due to the fact that we are in the hi-end section of this forum,
what about going from AES to a 2 channel converter (i.e Lavry Blue), then to Coleman?

A few more feet of cable length won't matter sonically. Custom cables are probably your best bet, many people will make them, including us.

If possible, avoid extending what you already have. The savings would be minimal ($55?) and having 4 connectors instead of 2 invites problems -- terminations being damaged by strain, miswires, mispatches, and physical damage to the connectors in the middle.

i am with david. have a cable made. up to 25 feet is insignificant when done with good quality components, such as neutrik and canare/mogami. but it will lbe 150 bucks or so from pacific radio in LA for example. labrea and santa monica i think.

oh i see davids company makes cables. well you could try them!
