Valve Noise Gates

Hi all a bit of a noob question.

Ive heard recently about valve noise gates..Apparently they give the silences between strikes a warmer more natural sound but so far ive been unable to find any or even find out who makes or made them...

Can anyone recommend a make of stereo valve noise gate??
