Thread Starter | TubeTech CL1B Settings!?
Hi GS Friends!! Want to record vocals (pop/rock) in a few days and i am a bit curious what you have for the settings on your TT CL1B!? It is usual pop / rock recording and i gonna use Korby Kat U67 Mic--> API / Neve Pre -> Tube Tech CL1B. Perhaps I should mention that there are "Mullard" tubes in it, if it can affect how you set it differently!! It is probably not necessary to have mentioned specific settings of the gain and threshold as they are dependent upon the input level. 4 exempel: Compression: 4-5 dB Attack/release select: Mannual or Fix or Fix/Man Attack: 2 o'clock Release: 10 o'clock Ratio: 10-2 o'clock Thanks 4 your time ![]() /Hansson

Hej! There are no rules. The TT is so forgiving, you can hardly go wrong. You have to use your ears. The Fix/Man/fix&Man switch actually gives 3 different styles of compression. Small diffrences, for sure, but still. When in doubt, download the manual from TT. I think they suggest fixed for vocals, but my man Robert says fix/man and I agree it's either that or manual for me. As long as you don't compress more than 5 db's you can not make it sound bad. MVH, |

Settings are OK to start with. Just listen and you'll know ![]() CL1B is great compressor, simply must have and for vox almost indispensable.

Thanks "GYang" & "World Studo" 4 your feedback!! I can report that the weekend has given me a big smile!! I put the song with Korby KAT U67 capsule (which is a piece of art for himself) through a VintageDesign CA81 preamp. I go with the settings that I have written in my first post on TT. The db meter was working between -3, and -7 db depending on the style we played. We recorded typical pop song and a little more rock song (4 fun). When I switched on the TT in the song chain, it gave me a big smile. Hard to describe, incredible closeness (a lot of body) and crispy sound. When we tested to record acoustic guitar was ADR Compex my clear winner in my opinion and taste. Had an AKG 451 mic through the API 3124 and ADR Compex. All things have their best charm on different audio sources. But my TT (with mullard tubes) is my new BLUE hero Best Regards Hansson |

Hey Hansson! Would you mind posting a clip? Short but 24 bit wav would be great! MVH, |
