I own both an LA-610 and a TG2. I recently did a huge gear testing shootout and these two units are some of the few that I kept and purchased. Here is my personal 2 cents. The LA-610 is my go-to for recording bass direct. It is simply awesome for bass. Works well for vocals as well, but I LOVE the TG2 paired with my Manley Gold Reference mic for vocals, so I usually go that way. Personally, since you are asking about the 2-610 and not the LA-610, I'd go with the TG2. The reason is that I feel that part of what makes the LA-610 so magical and useful for me is the LA-2A style limiter in it. If it was just the pre, I would probably go with the TG2 most of the time. Both are excellent pres and both have a lot of vibe. You can't go wrong either way. I would pick the TG2 for my tastes. You should try and use both side by side if possible. VS |

Try 'em both... Very different beasts. I prefer the 2-610 (change the tubes), great for a lot of sources.
